A devout Jewish woman lives with her family surrounded by a cemetery on Jerusalem’s Mount of Olives. During the day, while her husband and children are at school, she is left alone on the mountain, and often meanders through the cemetery in an attempt to escape the seemingly endless housework. One night, she storms out of the house in frustration, running wherever her feet will carry her. To her surprise, she is exposed to an unsettling scene that will change her life forever.

Premiering at Venice Film Festival, VCA alumni Yaelle’s Kayam’s debut feature offers an intricate portrait of a constrained life.

“Impressively balancing the predictable with the unexpected, the first-time feature writer-director weaves a complex portrait of a constrained life, understanding that no one is fully knowable.” – Variety
